A little information / Review about Deploystudio

About Deploy Studio

deploystudio

Over these past few weeks I have been trialing the freeware software called deploystudio. To give you a little background as to what deploy studio has to offer.

  • Imaging of OSX
  • Imaging of Windows XP/Vista
  • The ability to have a net install for all images
  • No need for several net installs like net restore or OS X Netinstall
  • The ability to bind OS X installs to Open Directory and Active directory as post action.
  • Ability to auto partition and reimage
Review
With deploystudio being a new product and having to be able to be as good as net restore I am quite impressed. I did however find it quite hard to get my head around first. People who are use to making net installs for each image will understand when they first use deploystudio. I almost made the mistake of reimaging the server i was testing it on by running the runtime application on the server itself. I also had a issue with having a proxy set in network settings it did not allow me to setup my deploystudio server. In order to administrate the server in anyway you will need to make sure you remove any proxy settings of your server. You will also need to keep this set for any administration you wish to do. Like all new software I expect future releases to have a more easier use and a fix for the above problem.
As i have had very little use of the application I expect i will find more issues and more positive comments to say.

Over the next month or two I will be putting together some tutorial videos on how to setup your deploy studio server and how to administrate it. If you wish to be updated on deploy studio you can recieve updates via email of any new content added.
